Milwaukee hopes images of dead can heat up cold cases

Not exactly useful in lightening up one's day, but, very useful, perhaps, in terms of demanding accountability for nefarious acts--should the perpetrator be identified, that is. You never know.

Should all states follow suit?

Why my murderous blogging rampage, you ask?

I grew up on Long Island, just about ten blocks from the home of serial killer, Joel Rifkin, who murdered between 9 and 17 women in New York during the late eighties, early nineties (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joel_Rifkin). Ten years earlier, around the mid-seventies, David Berkowitz, a.k.a, Son of Sam, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Berkowitz) terrorized Long Island, murdering about a half a dozen people.

This discussion began, not because of my family's close proximity to Rifkin, or because of a particular fascination with Rifkin or Berkowitz (merely coincidence), but because of my love for dark literature, particularly the genres of Gothic and murder fiction, true crime, and creative nonfiction.

Overall, I'm fascinated with things that go bump in the day or night, the unfathomable, the wicked, and the quest for truth.

I hope you'll contribute your own nefariousnesses to the discussion; local crime stories, great and small, are of particular interest.
